Base has started 2018 with great vigour with various projects in and around the Queenstown Lakes District.
Remarkables Park Subdivision:
We have continued on a large earthworks project for a client in the Frankton area. This requires the establishment of roads, removal of waste material and cut to fill. This project has required full time work for dump trucks, excavators and a grader. This project is to continue on until the winter months.
Hanley Farm Subdivison:
Works have begun on a highly anticipated project to install 4 kilometres of 400PE water and a 400PE sewer line to connect a new subdivision. We have obtained the services of Contrax Central Earthmoving to help us with this large scale project. This project is progressing well and looks set for completion as per schedule.
The Remarkables and Coronet Peak:
Base excavators are heading up to the local ski fields to complete earthworks and other improvements to the fields ahead of the 2018 season.
Base has continued to excavate rock to make room for more apartments at The Tiers newest development on Frankton Road. We have worked with Alpine Drilling to remove rock and material so rock anchors can be fitted. This is a steep and challenging site that has required our excavators to rock break a significant amount of the area required for the new builds. It has been great to see the amount of progress being made in late 2017 into 2018 and the area is starting to take shape. Building is well under way for the new luxury apartments.
Base is one of the four businesses that make up Aspiring Highways. Aspiring Highways has the NZTA contract for the Central Otago road maintenance. Base has been busy removing guardrail in the Kawarau Gorge as part of the maintenance programme. Base team members are on call on the weekends to attend incidents and accidents on the state highway between the Kawarau Gorge and Kingston.
Base along with Central Drainlaying begun reticulated service works for a new subdivision at Homestead bay in late 2017. This involves the installation of services for the subdivision. We are completing works for contractor SouthRoads. This has involved a full drainage crew, labourers and excavators. The team have enjoyed the work thus far and the stunning location.
Du Parc Subdivision:
Base is currently undertaking works on a new residential subdivision in Arthurs Point. This has been a mix of Civil and site works , construction of wooden retaining walls and earth retaining wall structures. Base Contracting along with Central Drainlaying also installed the utilities for the subdivision. This has been a challenging site with lots of different projects. We have had to complete confined spaces and a lot of compaction testing.
