Coronet Peak Road Rehabilitation
Client: The Roading Company (for Queenstown Lakes District Council)
Coronet Peak Road is an 8km section of sealed road climbing from the Wakatipu basin to the Coronet Peak Ski field and Skippers areas. The upper road is alpine in environment. The Roading Company subcontracted Base to undertake the site clearance, earthworks, and drainage for Queenstown Lakes District Council upgrade of a section of this road.

Crown Range Road

The Crown Range Road is a 50km alpine pass between Wanaka and the Wakatipu. It is a ‘special purpose road’ managed by Queenstown Lakes District Council with Transit NZ. Sections of this road were upgraded, widened & lowered to improve safety, passing & visibility. Fulton Hogan subcontracted Base to undertake the earthworks to subgrade levels, drainage & guard railing.

Malaghans Road Rehabilitation

Malaghans Road is a main local body arterial road between Arrowtown & Queenstown running under Coronet Peak. Sections of this road are upgraded periodically by Queenstown Lakes District Council to also incorporate cycle & horse traffic. Fulton Hogan subcontracted Base to undertake all site clearance, earthwork to sub-base, drainage & finishing works.

Glenorchy - Queenstown Road Rehabilitation & Assistance Works

The Glenorchy Road is a 45km section of special purpose road (SPR) which runs from Queenstown to Glenorchy along the edge of Lake Wakatipu. Sections get upgraded & widened periodically by Queenstown Lakes District Council / Transit NZ to improve safety and passing ability. The Roading Company subcontracted Base to undertake rock catch fencing, earthworks, drainage & finishing of 5 such locations.

Remarkable Road Maintenance & Snow Clearance
Client: NZSki
The Remarkables Skifield run by NZSki is in the Queenstown basin. It is a high Alpine field with a 14km gravel access road (currently being sealed to the 9km mark). Base maintains and grades the road in summer months, and clear snow for skier access during the winter months.

The Department of Conservation (DOC) required a 2km section of the Tasman Valley road replaced as many existing sections continually washed out. The Roading Company subcontracted Base for all earthworks, drainage, culverts & subgrade preparation working out of the Mt Cook Village.
